No, I did all that, quite expecting it to work, and it doesn't. Having
said that, after experimenting, I can only get visage to do what I
want from shell, it won't do it from an icon, no matter what tooltypes
I set.

Visage tries to load them in some default screen format, and runs out
of graphics memory.

My canon has jpeg as default (actually EXIF-JPEG), but also saves in
"raw" format, which is very good for accuracy, as it loses no
resolution at all, but requires the file be opened in Canons software.
